cleaning out the dust

As much as I try to keep everything up to date it becomes harder and harder. Things seem to get in the way. Lately life has been busy (as usual). Work and school tear apart my weeks. Days are mere hours long. I can’t believe it is March already. I hope things begin to mellow out. There are many things I want to go out and do but no time to do them unfortunately.

School is doing okay for the most part. History is still boring as hell. Math is math. Psychology is hit and miss, especially since I am prone to dozing off now and then. The only entertaining class is my creative photography class which always brings something new to the table. It’s my most looked forward to class of the week. Still sad it is only one day a week though.

As for work, well it has been hectic as of late. Had a few weeks of epic shifts and now things are finally starting to calm down but with call-ins and crazy photo sales it still spikes now and then. I just try and stay positive but even that is testing me.

We’ll see if I can update this thing on a timely basis.

complications

I’ve been lacking posts here as of late. Life has been crazy and I have really only written up things on a Tumblr page I have. You can check it out here.

like the flash of a camera

Thought I would throw up a small update. The new photography class is pretty sweet. Been doing different things each Saturday so far. It is my most looked forward to class. Needs to be on more days. Good new crew we have this time.

That is all for now.

the gears have begun moving again

It’s that time of the year. School has returned for a sixth semester. This time it’s mostly book related crap that I’ll forget in probably three weeks. Time a little situation sit down and brief on this semester’s classes.

History – American History to 1877

First off, what is so important about 1877? I guess I’ll find out. Anyway, the class is seated in alphabetical order which is stupid because this is college, not elementary school. The professor has an annoying voice that drones during lectures. Today was the second day of class and we watched some boring late 80’s/early 90’s video about Columbus finding this wonderful land and how he fucked over the Native Americans. After that was notes that I slept through.

Math – Intermediate Algebra

I finally decided to give this class another try after god knows how long. The teacher is decent looking although she told us she can be a bitch. The book situation pisses me off and I had to pay more than $100 for a stupid code to use online to be able to do my homework. Stupid. It’s math, what do you expect it to be?

Psychology – Intro to Psychology

The professor is German which means she has the accent that all stereotypical therapists have. The one day I have had this class so far had me nodding off towards the end (I blame the lame Power Point presentation). This is the only class out of the others that has at least one person I know (not including photography because that is obvious that I know people). Seems like an interesting class though.

Photography – Creative Photography

I start this tomorrow and am excited. Shame it is only one day a week but it will give me time to do my projects during my hectic school/work schedule. WHOO!

That’s about it for now. I will TRY and actually get around to updating this more. Hopefully.

money, books, delays, go figure

On Monday I headed down to the college to gather the books for the upcoming semester. Turns out I need six books for the four classes I am taking. History requires two, same with math. Math on the other hand has the most retarded second purchase ever. It’s a CD with random papers attached and costs over $100. I highly doubt I will EVER use it and am pissed. I am hoping that when I attended the first math class the professor will tell us that it isn’t exactly required in which case I will return the piece of shit. Overall I spent $550 on books I will rarely use. Fucking school, they should pay me just for going.

So now I am poor until my paycheck next Thursday night. I am thankful that my Kodak Zi8 is still on back-order, otherwise I would be fucked.

new year, old grind

I can’t seem to escape the usual grind of daily life. Work is keeping me on a crazy schedule as usual. I haven’t been sleeping well and it shows. The boss has been not too happy with me, especially after this last weekend. Hopefully I can pull myself together in this next week and a half before school returns. We’ll see how that goes.

breaking a tradition

I decided against writing up a review of this last year. I felt as if there were things that I did not want to bring up and just leave them alone. Later on, in the new year, I might add a small piece about the year, but we’ll see.

what starts, ends

It is hard for me to remote believe that 2009 is just about over. Seems to have happened far too fast. As usual (if things go well) I will have my end of the year wrap up for the New Year. Quite a bit to talk about which should make it far better than last year’s lacker. Just need to sit down and type it out. Lately things have been hectic with work and just the holiday rush. I am ready for it to be over.

I do, however, look forward to the weekend.

creating work to push forward

In my hunt to become a better photographer I have set a goal for myself. No professors or grades to judge or critique me. This will be all me. No rules. No instructions.

My plan is to create a photography book to act as a portfolio of sorts and to test my skills as a photographer. For the content I will plan out a theme (which is TBD as of right now). The number of pictures will be either thirty or sixty depending on how strong the subject it. I feel this will push what I  have learned to the limits and give me a worthy challenge that will let me work at my own pace and prepare things as needed. I guess I could say that the deadline is Summer ‘10. That gives me just over half a year to work on this. I am ready for this great challenge. For now I just need to make sure my gear is in good shape which means cleaning the lenses and filters, along with getting a new tripod (which I hope to have by next semester).

Expect updates on my progress.

shred the rubber

Last few days have been pretty typical. Classes are starting to wrap up which means all the last minute work needs to get done. My digital photography class starts it’s presentations tomorrow. I have mine ready for display. I am hoping for a somewhat decent grade to top off the class (which should be fairly easy). The professional photography class ends on Saturday (after one last regular class on Thursday). Still working on the final for that class. Going super last minute with it which isn’t too good but there isn’t anything I can do to help that. The project I laid out is much harder than I thought it would be and the current weather is not helping as I try and finish it up. I am crossing my fingers.

English is still a bore. He is still throwing daily quizzes at us and then the final will be next Thursday. Supposedly in class essay on some secret topic. I am really hoping I pass that class, along with political science. As for political science, my group was supposed to present our semester project today but time ran out so we have to present (and shorten) our presentation for Wednesday. Should go smoothly. The final is a multiple choice test next Wednesday. I like those kind.

Not much else to talk about really. The only notable thing is that I have been playing Forza 3 (hence the title). Driving like an asshole pays off like it should. Other than that, nothing else is special in the land of me. All I can say is that I could use my paycheck. Three more days.
