nutcase in aisle 9

Today pretty much proved what kind of fucking nutcases we get at Walgreens.

I was helping a lady in photo when this titanic sized large woman came up and dropped down five cameras and interrupted the conversation between the other customer and myself. The woman looks up and sees that I am busy and closes her porthole silences herself. After finishing with the customer and turn to the woman and shield my eyes ask her if she is dropping off. She asks for envelopes and I tell her to shut the fuck up that we do it through the computer so I ask her for her phone number. As soon as I ask she tells me she doesn’t want to say it out loud so she asks for a pen. With one eyebrow raised I hand her one and she writes it down on a piece of paper and hands it to me. I enter the information in to the computer and then fill out the forms. For whatever reason she begins telling me about how she is being careful because some dude is in prison and that people were beating the shit out of her using her information and all this stupid shit I tried my best to zone out. After entering the fatass’ info I start to get the labels onto the envelopes and she continues to question everything. She asks what to do when she comes to pick it up and if she needs an ID. I told the bitch her that all we do is ask for the claim check. She looked at me and repeated “Do I need an ID?” I told her no and that we never do. She gives me a look and then goes on to tell me that the phone number she used is her sister’s and that she didn’t want the other spawn of Satan her sister picking up her photos so she wrote down her address on one of the envelopes and told me to check who picks them up. I start to pick up the envelopes to take to the back and she asks if I am going to seal them. I tell her no because we develop them in store and she gives me another look and says “okay.” Then she asks me for my name so she can “ensure” she gets her stuff. I gave it to her but it won’t matter because I don’t work for the next two days. Jokes on you crazy bitch! After she gets my name she finally leaves. I give a sigh of relief when I go back to the lab.

Why do I always get the fucking strange people?

we’re up here, you’re at the floor

Going in to today I figured it would be an average Monday. For the most part that was true. Computer class went by fast and I finished up everything early. In my art of photography class we watched a movie about two photographers. That put me out fast. I came to when they were over (which was when class was over). During my break I got lunch and talked to friends. When they went to class I headed to my car and continued reading out of Seagalogy. Great stuff as usual. Then it was time for my intro to photography class.

I gathered my gear and headed to class. When I got in I popped my film out of the camera and Zak (the professor) told me that another person was in developing as well. He followed me to the room and checked on them. She was having trouble so he sent me in to help. I managed to get her film on the holder and then got mine set. The two of us turned on the lights and got to the chemicals. Once that was all done I went in to the darkroom to print. After setting up and doing a proof sheet I dipped it in the fluids to develop. During then one of the other students and myself got into a conversation about Battlestar Galactica and things flew from there. She hasn’t seen much of the last season so we talked about others things like how she named her dog Starbuck and how I ordered the dog tags. The conversation moved on to Warhammer 40k where I learned that she used to get the tabletop models and customize them. I totally wasn’t expecting her to be such a geek. It was cool. For the rest of the time we talked about various things and how we have to have some kind of BSG party when she gets caught up to watch the last episode. Good stuff. Oh, and I printed one of my night photographs. It came out good.

People who watch Battlestar Galactica are awesome.

long, yet short weekend

This weekend has been a strange one. It felt long but went by fast. How does that work? Fuck if I know.

Friday’s ordeal lessened and my coworker is back on speaking terms with me. The situation is still a bit heated but less so than on Friday. Saturday night was long and tiring considering the night before. Tonight was slow and boring. One more day of work until the paycheck.

School tomorrow will probably be slow to start out but once I get to my film class it should go by pretty fast. I am hoping my night shots come out well. There is one on there that I really want to use for the assignment. I guess all I can do is cross my fingers.

As for the host change, I still need to work on getting my photo site back. The previous one doesn’t want to work with the new stuff so I probably will just recreate it. I also have to rebuild my dad’s part of the site. His took the worst hit via the change. Not that it really bothers me.

Lastly, serious episodes of sitcoms suck. Yes, I’m looking at you Family Matters.

the new “site” smell

You may notice that the site is different. I have switched hosts and have been working on getting the site back to how it was. Some stuff is missing or doesn’t work so it will give me something to do tomorrow night. So far I am liking this host better than the last. Way faster and better support.

I’ll keep updating as things come back online or any changes that come up.

drama bomb

Things got interesting at work yesterday. One of the guys is back from his vacation and from getting married and various things were going around the store. I expected to hear something from him about not going to the wedding. I already told him I had prior engagements for that day and an stupidly early shift at work. When I got there I saw him in the hallway to the office and he asked to speak to me in one of the backrooms. I followed and he closed the door. The first thing he says is “So what’s with all the fun and jokes last Friday?” I was like “I told you that I had stuff on Friday and that’s why I couldn’t…” He cut me off and said “No not that. I mean the whole thing about how long until I cheat. What the fuck is that about?” Then I remembered.

Last Friday someone started up a conversation about how long until he would cheat on his new wife or something along those lines. One person mentioned a specific time while the rest of us strayed from the conversation altogether. We expected this to stay on the down low but apparently some people can’t keep their mouth shut.

Back to yesterday and I tell him what I remembered and he seemed pretty pissed (even though I told him I didn’t say anything). So he opened the door and walked out. For the rest of the night he didn’t say a word to us. I talked with the others who were there and we all felt it was way overblown for what it was and were pissed that someone would open their mouth about such a lame duck joke. After he left the store was more talkative.

There was one interesting moment when a mother brought her son in and the guy on register called a manager up front. I looked out the window to see what was going on only to notice the kid. It was one of the skater kids that the manager called up front and me talk to every so often. Apparently he and his friends tried stealing some candy and his mom busted him. Tisk tisk. We were nice to those kids too, but now they are banned from the store.

The rest of the night sucked though since it was just two of us on the floor and a manager. I teamed up with the other person and cleaned up the store. The only good news to report is that the annoying dumb bitch on register is history. She has moved and the world is once again better. The only bad thing is that we were about to hire this 19 year old girl who one of my managers thought matched me perfectly but she hasn’t called back so I guess we’ll be getting this 36 year old woman instead. Damn.

After work I headed home and changed for a party in Dixon. I got somewhat lost on my way there (stupid Google Maps) only to find I was right in front of the guy’s house. Once I got there I chilled and chatted with people. Then I played some Halo 3 and Soul Calibur IV. I ended up leaving a bit before 4am and got home just after. Somehow I managed to wake up at 7am all fine and dandy. Work is going to suck because I have to be there by 2:30pm. I’m going to be out of it in no time.

so say we all

It was the winter of 2003. My young mind was watching television one night when I came across something that would capture my attention. I had flipped the channel to SciFi when right before my eyes was a spaceship taking fire from what seemed like horseshoe shapped ships. I continued to watch as explosions and dogfights occured in front of my eyes. Then came the final battle as large ships shaped like stars attacked this spaceship with hundreds, if not thousands, of those horseshoe ships. It had me on the edge of my seat. When it ended I was pretty happy with my choice of what to watch for the night. It would not be for another seven months before what I saw that night would be remembered.

my legs were not built for hiking

Today was adventurous to say the least. I went out and took photos for both my film and digital class. For film I finished up my “On the Streets” assignment in downtown. I am hoping that they turn out well being it was a super overcast day. It looked like it was going to rain at many points during my route through the streets. That part of the trip laster about fifteen to twenty minutes. Next was the landscape assignment for my digital class. For this I headed down to a trail that I have only went to once previously way back during my years in middle school. I headed over there and got ready. The path went on longer than I expected and I ended up three miles from my car but the scenery was great. Took many great photos but wish they could have been better since the damned overcast sky was darkening the details. Some of the photos came out better than expected though so overall it was okay. I’ll have to go back during a sunny day and get some good photos before summer kills off the green.

You can check out the photos I took today on my photo site.

quite possibly a nightmare

Having dreams about someone loved and lost are the worst ones.

Deep down I don’t think I’ll ever be over her.

violence gives the world some color, and by color i just mean red

So life is dandy and all at the current moment. Nothing is really keeping me down. Quite the reversal from some of the events in the last few weeks or so.

School has been ok, well aside from Tuesdays and Thursdays which I dread unlike no other. The others I enjoy going to each time they come around. Web is easy, except the test that we just took. Who the fuck puts essay question on a web design test? Both photo classes are going good. Getting better with technique and all that. Earlier I took some photos for a project due in two weeks but I need to take some self-portraits this weekend for this coming Monday. Not sure what I am going to do for them but I am sure I’ll think of something. The film class is a pretty tight group. Always joking around and such which makes the day go by.

Work is work. Nothing new about that. My current schedule makes it almost the same every day I come in. Unloading something. I don’t mind it. The managers know I can get it done when they need it so they usually just acknowledge me coming in and I get to work. Just that good I guess.

My time at home has been consisting of Dawn of War II, EVE Online, and now Empire Total War. The first two have been keeping me busy for quite a while. Empire on the other hand is pretty different compared to the other Total War games. Still figuring out the little details in the campaign and such. Another thing that sort of bothers me is that the time limit for the campaign seems shorter than the other games in the series but I am sure it will be fine once I figure everything out.

Lastly, tonight is the final episode of Battlestar Galactica before the 2-part series finale. Not sure what to expect but I know it will be pretty depressing. This season has been shocking on so many levels and I can’t wait to see how it ends. Science fiction has never been this grand. Sadly though I won’t be able to watch it as it airs due to work but it will be the first thing I do in the morning tomorrow.
