observations from a nobody

As much as I try to keep everything up to date it becomes harder and harder. Things seem to get in the way. Lately life has been busy (as usual). Work and school tear apart my weeks. Days are mere hours long. I can’t believe it is March already. I hope things begin to mellow out. There are many things I want to go out and do but no time to do them unfortunately.

School is doing okay for the most part. History is still boring as hell. Math is math. Psychology is hit and miss, especially since I am prone to dozing off now and then. The only entertaining class is my creative photography class which always brings something new to the table. It’s my most looked forward to class of the week. Still sad it is only one day a week though.

As for work, well it has been hectic as of late. Had a few weeks of epic shifts and now things are finally starting to calm down but with call-ins and crazy photo sales it still spikes now and then. I just try and stay positive but even that is testing me.

We’ll see if I can update this thing on a timely basis.

The last week and a half have been beating me down. Most of it was due to coming down with the flu. Hit me last Friday and held me in its awful grip for most of the week. I managed to hold the fort and take some photographs at the nearby creek for an assignment. It was risky as I was running a pretty good fever and burning up while trying to stay warm with the chills. Not something I’m likely to do again. Being sick has caused me to miss some class and work but hopefully by this coming weekend everything will be good. At least that is what my oh-so-not-helpful doctor said.

As far as other things are concerned life has been treating me fairly typical aside from a few things. Life loves to throw me curve balls and all I can to is keep taking them to the face, leaving me dazed and confused as to where to go. Kind of a depressing thought. It also doesn’t help when after hearing news of something not too great that sad music comes on next during a shuffle of your music library. Thanks Zune, that really was oh-so-helpful.

Seems like the times are changing. New year, new president, new semester. All of this adds to the wild ride of life.

Up to this point this year has had its moments. I have shared some good and some bad. Things haven’t gone comepletely the way I had hoped but there is a redeeming chance down the line. Starting this last Monday some big changes have been made and even more are ahead.

School is back and I find myself waking up early again (not that I like to). English 2 is being retaken so I can fix that ugly D on my transcript. This new guy seems ok. I just need to read the stupid book now. A bit long for my tastes but I should be able to stay awake. Another “retry” this semester is web design which I somehow managed to fuck myself over. Again, the new teacher seems cooler and it is a nice change from the old guy who I have already had twice. The actual two new classes seem interesting although I see myself shelling out money like mad and the time sink is going to be big but I look forward to the challenge. Art of photography seems like it will be fun. I get to use my Nikon D60 and learn how to use it better while learning about famous photos and styles and such. Introduction to photography is film based so I will be using my dad’s Nikon F2. I have no clue how to use it so I am glad that the next class is learning how to. So far that class is the most expensive with $88 going towards a kit which doesn’t seem to have everything he showed us. Looks like I am going to have to check with the store tomorrow and see what the fuck is up.

Tomorrow will be a personal change for me. I am going with two of my coworkers to Sacramento where I will be getting a tattoo. Nothing big and fancy (mainly because I am poor and I don’t need anything too obvious). I will be getting the Brotherhood of NOD logo on my right wrist (underside). Not sure how I am going to expain it to the parents but whatever. For the Brotherhood!

Finally, I am planning a huge overhaul for the site. Aside from my constant delay at actually making the home page look decent (not happening for a while) I am going to be working on getting an even better representation of my photos set up. I may move the current site to a different URL (it will still be on this site, just diffrent location is all) or remove it in favor of the new portfolio I am building. In either case my photos will look snazzy. Expect to see it (hopefully) in the next week or two.

Oh yeah, I should be actually getting back to posting here more since I’ll be bored as hell at school during breaks or home since my days are long so expect something at least.

It seems as though the influence of Magic is spreading. I went over to Andrew’s last night and introduced him to my new crack. He caught on pretty quick and is now interested in the game. I told him I would find out a low cost way to get him in the game with his own cards. My hope is to get a decent sized group going so we can have weekly meets and play until the wee hours of the morning. With my work schedule unconfirmed for now I have to wait and see but it gives me time to convert more people. Even if we do have a set date and I work I hope to have enough people to have them play and then I would play the next week or something. It’s a work in progress.

Staying on the topic of Magic, I did some more shopping and got the Elves vs. Goblins duel deck pack. Andrew tried out the Goblin deck last night versus my main deck. Did fairly well too. I also went online and ordered one of each Planeswalkers. One of them was $20 which was crazy but at least I’ll have them all now. Supposedly there are going to be multicolored Planeswalkers in the next expansion. I’ll have to keep my eye on those.

In other news, school starts tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it at all. Later today I need to get gas and then empty out the binders from last semester (the math one is my Magic binder). Hopefully tomorrow goes smooth so I am not out of it at work. It’s going to feel weird getting back in the groove and even more with work right after. Hopefully the rooms in the catalog are right since the stupid school seems to not want to send out official schedules this year. All my classes from glancing over are in the same general area which is nice. I just hope I’ll have enough time to switch out books at my car or my shoulder is going to kill me after each day. I can also only hope that I get decent teachers. I already have had one of them before but the other three are mysteries to me. Got to hope for the best I guess.

I am one step closer to getting a house in Lord of the Rings Online. Reached level 15 today so now all I need is the gold to buy the house (it will be a cheap one for now until I get super rich). Apparently I also have to pay upkeep or some such nonsense so I will need to save up a good amount of silver to do that. The other thing I did is replace the three month subscription I had plan and took advantage of the anniversary deal and did a lifetime subscription. I’ll be billed for $200 on August 19th so I need to have enough money in checking to cover me for that and still keep it over my “better have more than $200 in my checking or I will punch something” limit. Hopefully my next paycheck (next Friday) will help with that. I estimate it will be about mid-$500.

In other news I plan to work on the site either tomorrow or before work on the weekend. My plan is to add a status page of sorts, either on the site itself or as a page on this blog. Hope to get Xbox Live status, Last.fm, and anything else I may be forgetting. Should help locate my sorry soul.

Another thing I seem to have to do tomorrow is head down to the college and check out prices for the books I need for this coming semester. Hopefully they aren’t too much and by too much I mean money and quantity. Since all the classes are back to back to back to back I don’t seem to have enough time to run over to the car and swap. Should be interesting to figure out a routine. All I know is that once school starts I will be busy as fuck with work, school, and homework. Be prepared for rage and emo-ness.
